Auxerre

Auxerre is on the Yonne River and my hotel is right about where the blue boat is. Walkable town and of course I had to pop into the cathedral and another very old church. The Joan of Arc ("I've come from God, the King of Heaven to save Orleans for all of France.") is a beautiful 20th century window. The others are in the church of Saint-Eusèbe, built from 1100s to the 1500s. The windows of the crucifixion (among others) are from 1540. Imagine. Nearly 500 years old. The craftsmanship and detail is amazing. I blew these up so you could see more details. The statue is of St. Francis but I wanted to get the delicate colors and shape of the window behind him.
